The 2019 edition of ADAPT’s annual conference aims to reflect back to the past in order to build the future of work together. Around the theme “Labour is not a commodity. Today”, ADAPT seeks to shed light on this fundamental concept that can be found in labour legislation, both in developed and developing nations, but is not yet a reality for millions of people across the globe. Besides investigating the theoretical foundations of this principle, ADAPT has called upon the international academic community to put forward practical proposals, in order to fully implement it. The best papers will be presented during the conference, alongside contributions from renowned scholars and industry experts.
The World Employment Confederation is a long-standing partner of ADAPT to advance knowledge on the changing world of work and promote thought leadership on the issue. Annemarie Muntz, President of the World Employment Confederation, and Even Hagelien, Chairman of the WEC’s Economic Affairs Committee, will both address the 2019 annual conference and share the perspective of the private employment industry.
The conference is also supported by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and CIELO Laboral Network. ADAPT – Association for International and Comparative Studies in the field of Labour Law and Industrial Relations – is a non-profit organisation set up by Marco Biagi in 2000 with the aim of promoting research in the field of Industrial and Labour Relations through the establishment of an international network of researchers and academic scholars.
