Let us introduce Tanzania HR & Admin Professionals Association (THRAPA) as a new member of our global network! THRAPA is a trade association dedicated to foster collaboration, promote best practices, and elevate the standards of HR services throughout the country. It joined WEC as a new National Federation member in April 2025.

THRAPA’s membership includes individual professionals, students, and corporate entities such as employment service agencies. The association is not only a platform for professional networking and development but is also evolving into a service provider. In the near future, THRAPA plans to offer a range of direct HR services to its members. These will include recruitment, training, manpower outsourcing, payroll management, and general agency work. This expansion reflects THRAPA’s commitment to improving the quality and consistency of HR services in Tanzania.

Despite the existence of the National Employment Promotion Services Act of 1999, as an overarching guidance at the legal and policy level. The HR services industry in Tanzania still faces a significant challenges including the absence of a unified professional body to enforce standards of conduct for HR & Admin practitioners. As a result, many employment service providers operate independently, without adhering to a common code of ethics or professional guidelines. This lack of cohesion has created inconsistencies in service delivery and undermined trust in the industry.

THRAPA sees this challenge as a unique opportunity. By stepping into this space, the association aims to collaborate with relevant government authorities in establishing and enforcing a framework of professionalism and accountability that will benefit both service providers and job seekers. As Denis Derua, Secretary General of THRAPA, explains, joining the World Employment Confederation (WEC) is a strategic move that strengthens this mission: “This membership will help us raise the bar for HR & Admin practices in Tanzania and ensure our members benefit from a more structured, ethical, and effective service environment. THRAPA will stand out as a professional association with global affiliation, committed to delivering employment and HR services in line with international standards.”

THRAPA’s membership also marks a significant milestone for WEC, as it expands the Confederation’s presence in Africa. This growing footprint reflects WEC’s commitment to supporting professional HR and employment services across diverse regions, fostering global collaboration, and promoting excellence in workforce solutions worldwide.

As THRAPA continues to grow and evolve, its commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation will play a vital role in transforming Tanzania’s HR landscape. We are excited to support THRAPA on this journey and look forward to the positive impact it will bring to the industry.
